Ecological Significance: Zebras are known as "Pioneer Grazers." They are often the first to enter a new grazing area, eating the tough, tall grass stems that other herbivores (like Wildebeest and Impala) cannot digest. This prepares the pasture for the more selective feeders that follow.
Stripes: Biologists theorize that their unique stripe patterns serve multiple functions, including thermoregulation and "dazzle camouflage" to confuse predators like lions.
Social Bonds: Notice the close proximity of the herd, which reinforces social bonds and provides safety in numbers.
