Simulate Depth of Field Effect without a DSLR, or make it rain on a sunny day with Final Cut Pro’s video effects. Final Cut Pro 10.3 Tutorial Series, part ten, Video Effects. This is a complete A to Z tutorial for Final Cut Pro X. In todays video, you will learn how to apply drastic and subtle video effects to your clips to enhance your video. There are many reasons to apply video effects, such as simulate passage of time, add emotion to a video, colour grade a bad clip, or drastically change the look of your video. First I’ll show you how to use a combination of video effects to make a sunny day look overcast, with rain, complete with rain drops running down the camera lens. I’ll also make it look like the clip was shot with a handheld camera, to make it appear more intense. This is an example of how you can drastically change your clips, and make them look completely different. Then, we’ll look into a more subtle and artistic use of video effects. We’ll layer clips on top of each other, apply a mask and a blur effect to one part of the clip, while leaving the part outside the mask untouched, simulating a depth of field look. This will blur out the background, to make the action in the foreground pop more and stand out. Check out the rest of my videos in this series. If you haven’t seen them yet, part one was about importing media. Part two is all about tagging and organizing media. Part three was making a rough cut, and part four was adding B-roll. In part five, background music and sound effects were added. Part six is about exporting video to your mac and sharing on YouTube. Part seven, is about going back and improving your video based on feedback you received. Part eight is about auditioning clips to see which look best in the same spot. Part nine is about changing speed of your clips to manipulate time. Make sure you go back and watch them. New videos coming every week, so please subscribe so you don't miss them.
