CO-PUBLISHING AGREEMENT

In a typical co-publishing agreement, a songwriter will give up 50% ownership in the publishing part of your ownership to a publishing company and in return the publishing company will offer the songwriter an advance, which is upfront money.

The publishing company will then work to generate revenue for you and for themselves since they now own 50 percent of the publishing share.

For example, the publishing company may find ways to get your song used in commercials, movie or TV shows so both of you can get paid.

PUBLISHING ADMINISTRATION AGREEMENT

In a typical publishing administration agreement, a songwriter will not give up any ownership of their song to a publisher and will commonly just pay 15% of the income generated from the song to the publisher ownership
