Snow can be a blessing or a nightmare, but it definitely creates a big challenge for rail companies operating in countries that receive a lot of snowfall, leading to delays and economic loss due to rail traffic coming to a standstill. This is where the snowplow train comes to the rescue.
The wedge plow was invented by the railroad companies of the American West to solve the problem.
Snowplow trains are basically wedged in front of a locomotive or group of locomotives which pushes the snow to the sides of the track, thus requiring a large force due to the compression of the snow.
