This video introduces finding the explicit formula for arithmetic sequences when the sequence is given. Explicit formulas can be useful when looking for a particular term of the sequence without the need to generate the entire sequence.
Explicit formulas specifically find the nth term of a sequence and are equal to the first term of the sequence plus the common difference multiplied n minus 1 times. To find this formula, first determine what the first term in the sequence is. Then, determine the common difference between each term to complete the formula.
