Welcome back! Now that you have your Facebook Profile all set up you’re ready to Create a Business Page. Let’s get started. Once you are logged into your account there’s a couple ways you can create a page; down here in the bottom left-hand corner and on the top right corner inside this little upside down triangle menu - let’s go ahead and click Create Page on this option.
Here you will see 6 different page creation options: Local Business or Place; Company, Organization or Institution; Brand or Product; Artist Band or Public Figure; Entertainment; and Cause or Community. As you can see all of these have different Category options to choose from depending on the page you want to create. For this example we’ll choose Company, Organization or Institution and click on the Company category. Fill out your business’ name and click on the Get Started button.
Here’s our empty Company page and the first thing you want to do is add a profile picture, just like when you were setting up your Facebook profile. You’ll notice you have the same Edit options, we won’t add any text this time though. Now let’s add a quick description and click Save.
Next, let’s upload a Cover Photo really quick and click Save. Now, let’s scroll down and take a look at the rest of your new page for more things to edit, specifically the About section. There’s two ways you can get to it, we’re going to click on See All over here on the right. Here you will see some basic info that needs to be filled out. So let’s click on Edit Page Info and start filling out a description, contact info, location, etc. Once you’re done, click on the X at the top right of the pop-up window and refresh the page to see your updated Story.
Now, let’s click on the Home tab on the left, taking us back to our Page. Next you’ll want to Add a Button to encourage people to take action when they visit your page. You can choose from a variety, we’ll choose Send Email, enter an email address and click on Add Button; and there you go your page is looking better and better by the minute.
Lastly I’ll mention Settings, located up on the white bar on the left, next to Help. Here you will have access to many management tools. Let’s take a look at Page visibility, under General Settings. Facebook automatically publishes your page the moment you create it, but you can Unplublish it at any moment. For example if you wanted to populate your page with content before taking it live, you would want to Unpublish your page before adding any new photos or background info.
Check out Part 3 of this series where we go a little more in depth into these Settings, specifically the ones your business may benefit the most from, like tagging, notifications, preferred audiences and more!
