Sub Pop Records is a Seattle-based independent record label that was founded in 1986 by Bruce Pavitt and Jonathan Poneman. The label gained national attention in the early 1990s for signing and releasing records by influential grunge bands such as Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Mudhoney.

In 2014, Sub Pop opened a retail store at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (often referred to as SeaTac Airport). The store, called Sub Pop Airport Store, sells vinyl records and merchandise from the label's artists, as well as music from other independent labels and local Seattle bands.

In 2016 and 2017, Sub Pop began hosting live performances at the airport, featuring both local and national artists. Some of the performers who have played at the Sub Pop Airport Store include Mike McCready of Pearl Jam, Tacocat, Kishi Bashi, and Band of Horses. These performances aim to showcase the vibrant Seattle music scene and provide travelers with a unique airport experience.
