ABOUT IMPULSE 60!
In 2021, Impulse celebrates its 60th anniversary with Impulse! 60, a year-long campaign which will include a robust release schedule of rare and never-before-heard music from catalogue artists, unreleased live material, high-fidelity rereleases, and brand new music from impulse’s current artists. The campaign will also incorporate various brand partnerships, marketing activations, and new visual tools built to spread the word about this iconic label’s history and future far and wide.

For sixty years, Impulse Records has stood as a label of musical integrity and lasting cultural significance, having brought forth many classic recordings that reflected —and often inspired—the political and cultural shifts of the world around it. Dedicated from the outset to the full range of jazz styles, Impulse was born in 1961 as part of the ABC Records family, and quickly came to follow the lead of its best-selling artist John Coltrane—producing music exciting in its experimental charge, and spiritual in its priority. Sonny Rollins, Quincy Jones, Max Roach, Ray Charles, Alice Coltrane, Keith Jarrett, Charles Mingus, Sun Ra, and Pharoah Sanders were but a few of the legendary musicians who helped define the label's sound and message.
