How to Import OBJ with MTL in 3ds Max 🎯
💡 To import an OBJ file with its associated MTL material in 3ds Max, navigate to "File" -- "Import". In the import dialog, select "Wavefront OBJ (.OBJ)" from the "Files of type" dropdown. Browse to the location of your .obj file, select it, and click "Open". 3ds Max will automatically search for an .mtl file with the exact same name as your .obj file in the same directory. If found, the "OBJ Import Options" dialog will appear. Ensure that the "Import Materials" option (often under the "Geometry" or "Materials" tab) is checked or set appropriately. You might also need to verify texture paths if they are relative. After configuring the options, click "Import" or "OK". Your OBJ model should then load into the scene with its materials and textures applied, assuming all files (OBJ, MTL, and texture images) are correctly placed and named.
