WIMBY European Project - Portugal workshops
📣 The European project Wimby - Wind In My BackYard, of which APREN is a partner, developed workshops in two Portuguese municipalities: Viana do Castelo and Torres Vedras.
🔎 In these workshops, the project brought together representatives of local authorities, the local community, promoters and academia, among others, to try out interactive tools and discuss the wind sector.
💡 WIMBY, whose consortium is formed by 15 European entities and is funded by the Horizon Europe framework program, has as its main objective to support the adoption and acceptance of wind energy in the European Union by promoting dialogue on the expansion and/or reequipment of onshore wind farms in Portugal.
💡 In an initial phase, the project partners created innovative tools to facilitate interaction between citizens and stakeholders, knowledge sharing and the collaborative assessment of impacts, conflicts, synergies and potential for social innovation. These tools use 3D technology to realistically simulate the installation of various types of wind turbines in different types of landscapes and real-world scenarios.
