As you know, glucose levels can be measured with a drop of blood taken from the finger (called capillary blood glucose testing), and this measurement allows you to check if the treatment is effective. The number of daily glucose tests depends on each pregnant woman. The higher her blood sugar levels and the more they fluctuate from day to day, the more tests will be necessary to ensure good diabetes control. Conversely, you can start with 5 or 7 tests a day, but as it becomes clear that the patient is achieving the correct ranges, the number of daily tests can be reduced, as in the last case described in the video.

It is recommended to take tests both before and after meals. During pregnancy, fasting blood glucose or blood glucose before meals should not exceed 95 mg/dL, one hour after a meal it should be less than 140 mg/dL, and two hours after eating it should be less than 120 mg/dL.

Gestational diabetes does not affect breastfeeding, and breastfeeding can be done normally.
