Ensure the patient's foot is in the correct position, with toes pointed forward and weight evenly distributed. Make sure the patient's ankle and leg are not in the X-ray field. Adjust the X-ray machine to the appropriate settings for foot imaging, including the appropriate exposure time and energy level. Instruct the patient to remain still and hold their breath while the X-ray is being taken. After the exposure, develop the X-ray film or review the digital images to ensure they are clear and properly captured. If necessary, take additional X-rays from different angles to fully capture the foot anatomy. Finally, review the X-ray images for any abnormalities, fractures, or other issues. It's important to follow proper safety protocols, including the use of lead aprons and collimation, to minimize radiation exposure for both the patient and the radiographer. Following these steps will ensure a thorough and accurate foot X-ray.
