How people can do this I don't know. Actually I do. They're not people. They're SCUM. Scum that deserves to be treated the same way, then sentenced to death. This innocent Pit mix had no voice which makes the abuse of animals sickening.
BAIT DOGS: are the dark underbelly of the dog fighting world. And one of the cruelest acts performed by man. Bait dogs are what the term implies: dogs (and even cats) are used as bait to further the practice of the dogs who fight in the "ring". They are chihuahuas, pit bulls, akitas, terriers, spaniels - every size, every breed, every age. Bait dogs are purchased from local ads, stolen from shelters, picked up as strays and even taken from backyards. And bait dogs do not stand a chance.
The perpetrators behind the dog fighting do not just use the innocent dogs; they file their teeth down to the gum line, remove their nails or tape their muzzle shut. The perpetrators brutally maim and torture bait dogs by stabbing them with knives, cutting off their ears, electrocuting them and worse. All in the name of "sport". They use bait dogs for the sole purpose of being another dog's victim, one who cannot defend or fight back. Bait dogs are not expected to live and the majority do not. This horrific act of animal cruelty has no limits and shows no mercy.
A family dog, who had the unfortunate luck of being picked up by animal control because he managed to escape his yard, is later stolen from the shelter he was brought to. This innocent, loving dachshund, who earlier that day was lazily basking in the sun and running around with the family's six year old girl, was thrust into an enclosed kennel with a very fearful, angry, aggressive 100-lb. dog. The little dachshund, confused and scared as to his current whereabouts, is now facing certain, brutal death. The 100-lb. dog lunges at the small dachshund, once a little girl's best friend, who is now lying in a pool of blood, his neck torn open and dying a slow painful death.
All because man - supposedly the most intelligent species - found it necessary to create dog fighting. Dogs are naturally loving beings - they have to be trained to fight like this.
A pit bull puppy is stolen from her backyard. She belongs to a family who has loved and spoiled her since birth. She enjoys a warm, cushy bed, a basket full of toys and homemade food for her meals. She is in excellent health and her family considers her their furry child. Now this loving, cuddly puppy has had her muzzle taped shut with duct tape and is facing a much larger dog in a small pen. The frightened puppy cowers in the corner, peeing to show submissiveness but someone pokes her with a sharp implement, over and over and over, until she is bleeding and in unbearable pain. In her pain and fear, she is sent into a frenzy which triggers the other, equally as scared dog into attacking. But the puppy's muzzle is taped shut so she can't fight back and she dies a brutal and lonely death.
All because man - who values sport over life - felt the need to create dog fighting. Dogs, on the other hand, show man unconditional love and forgiveness.
Dog fighting is a heinous crime and all of the dogs involved suffer unspeakable acts of evil. They are at the mercy of the hands of man, who turns around and takes full advantage of their loyal nature.
Breyden, a fierce soul, brave beyond words, is a survivor of animal cruelty known as "bait dogs". He had his teeth filed down to prevent fighting back and he was starved and emaciated. Breyden was rescued off of death row but was scared to death of everything. He had severe wounds that needed draining, was covered in fleas and infected with tapeworms. Multiple old scars were discovered on his neck, most likely from wire or fishing lines, and he suffered from multiple panic attacks, triggered by just about anything. Breyden has been saved, is on the road to recovery but has long way to go; the mental wounds of a bait dog run deeper than the physical wounds.
