Stratify is my first studio album and the first of five albums that focus on the different seasons, which are collectively known as the Exponential series. I began working on what would become the Exponential albums in 2016, creating material that has since evolved into many tracks on the albums. I subsequently created most of Stratify during the time period of November 2020 to March 2022, making use of several track ideas and sounds that date back to the 2016 sessions. After working on the next three Exponential albums, I returned to Stratify and added new overdubs to the record from November 2025 to February 2026.
Stratify is dedicated to Spring and features tracks with layers of sounds that are gradually introduced, causing the tracks to grow increasingly complex as they progress. Many sounds on the record were sourced from various everyday objects and surfaces, giving its percussion a uniquely rustic quality.
