8K Bokeh Porn - Extreme narrow depth of field on object.
I left the sound on - you can hear the AF USM motor and the metal grinding noise of AF hunting a result of 30 years old slightly deformed metal.
The porn term was inspired by Matt Granger that did a review some years ago on the same glass, not for video but for photography. I cant find a better expression for a technical clip with zero creativity.
I did this video as part of a set of tests with different cameras, lens and setting combinations to being able to pre visualise in my head how to use the kit in different scenarios. This video is part of a set where I compare:
50mm primes:
a) the F/1.0 (This video),
b) with a creamier bokeh but sharper F/1.2,
c) a portraiture workhorse - 85mm F/1.2,
d) and a 24-70 F2.8 with its impeccable clinical bokeh and exquisite sharpness.
All on a mirrorless full frame outputting a 8K-34MP (8192x4320) video.
At the same time I was testing for horizontal banding caused by led lightning, Autofocus behaviour in different light conditions and patterns specially weakness with vertical lines, what I can get away in post specially regarding exposure corrections with CLOG, etc.
The result of the a) test was this video - WOW - never seen this before! As I could not find anything similar I am sharing this. It's not artistic, not interesting unless you like camera optics - it's just 8K lens porn.
