This is the kind of assembly that should be done either "high quality" or not at all:
The quality of the components, the soldering, the use of a printed circuit board, varnish, and a protective housing ensure that the assembly will always deliver 5 V to the USB port and no more (overvoltage).
Be careful with the direction of the terminals on USB headers; there are "upside-down" models that look similar to the others!
The L5973D has a "pad" that allows it to dissipate its heat, so it's not supposed to be mounted on a standard board like this one, but rather on versions that facilitate heat dissipation.
Also pay attention to the "Vdss breakdown" value of the reverse polarity protection MOSFET!
