NSW has experienced unprecedented rainfall this year - and while the dams may be full, it doesn't mean all the water in them can be treated to become drinking water.

Recent rain events have brought sediment, nutrients and pollution into Warragamba Dam, leading to high levels of turbidity in our water.

The highly turbid raw water is more difficult for us to treat and turn into drinking water, and places a greater load on our water treatment plants.

Rest assured, the water that comes out of your tap is safe to drink and is filtered to the high standards set by the Australian Drinking Water Guidelines.
