The tragic murder and mutilation case of Fatmawati (16 years old) in Banjarbaru, South Kalimantan, in November 2010, shook Indonesian society. Fatmawati, who was known as part of the local punk community, was the victim of a gang rape by six young men: Fendi, Alex, Icun, Alamsyah, Tole, and Syafii. The main motive for the murder was Fendi's jealousy of Fatmawati. After raping the victim in the pine forest, they mutilated her body into five parts and threw them into an irrigation canal.
Initially, the local punk community was accused of this crime because the perpetrators dressed up as punks. However, after an investigation, it was discovered that the perpetrators were actually thugs disguised as punks. As a form of solidarity and clarification, the Banjarbaru punk community visited the victim's family to express their condolences and emphasize that they were not involved in the crime.
