Doesn't get you anomalies or flora/fauna but pretty speedy for uninhabited rock planets; help (resource) 4 flor, for water it's ice instead of water or h2o; if it's a complicated compound just mouse over it and it'll say the name. Sped up Surveying the Sol System by like 50 minutes or so; still took a while. Got 8 levels and around 20k credits for doing so, mildly entertaining diversion; got one cool shot of Saturn from the surface but nothing else in particular.
