With the Heart of Deimos expansion we got a few new interesting weapons!
Among them the Zymos, a mastery rank eleven secondary infested weapon.
The weapon fires spores that detonate upon impact in three point three meter explosion. If you manage to get a Headshot with the projectile than it will deal damage over time and explode with new spores which will seek targets.
While the mechanics of the weapon are subjectively neat the base stats are a bit puzzling. Base critical chance is only five percent but the multiplier is great at two point three so we can go for Critical Chance bonus additive after effects such as Harrow and Avenger. Status chance is solid at thirty percent and represents the strength of the weapon alongside the mechanics.
Riven Disposition is sadly only one out of five and my opinions riven mods are not worth using on the weapon unless you get an ideal roll such as Damage and Multishot with a harmless negative.
While the weapon maybe cool and new it doesn't pack that big of a punch and I'd classify it's performance as average at best.
The Zymos is further gimped by some rather strange design decisions. Low Magazine capacity, low ammo pool and a sky high reload time of over three seconds. I can see no explanation as to why the developer chose to limit this weapon to such a degree.
To make a long story very short. Get it only for the novelty because it's not worth much more than it's mastery points. You can skip the Zymos.
