Following the cancellation of the Housing Development Corporation's (HDC) controversial $3.4 billion housing procurement process, Minister in the Ministry of Housing, Senator the Honourable Phillip Edward Alexander, has responded to calls from Opposition Leader Penelope Beckles for the dismissal of the HDC Board and the Government's housing ministers.
Beckles called for the removal of Housing Minister David Lee, Ministers Anil Roberts and Phillip Alexander, as well as the HDC Board chaired by Feeroz Khan.
In his response, Minister Alexander questions the Opposition Leader's position and reiterates the Government's commitment to its housing agenda, including plans to increase homeownership opportunities and deliver more housing across Trinidad and Tobago.
