Is this the future of Leica? Imagine an M11… but without the rangefinder. That’s exactly what the rumored Leica M11V could be, a bold step into the future, or a betrayal of everything the M-system stands for? In this video, we dive deep into the latest Leica M11V rumors, what it means for the brand, and why this model could change everything for digital Leica rangefinder shooters.

WHAT IS THE LEICA M11V?
The Leica M11V (the “V” possibly standing for “Viewfinder” or “Visoflex”) is rumored to be the next big drop from Leica — a digital M camera with no optical rangefinder. Instead, it would feature a built-in electronic viewfinder (EVF), making it the first EVF-only Leica M ever released. This isn’t just a tweak — it’s a massive shift in design, philosophy, and usability. No optical patch, no mechanical focus assist — just a clear, modern EVF with possibly focus peaking, real-time exposure preview, and maybe even improved video capabilities.

WHY NOW?
Here’s the context:
• The Leica M11 pushed boundaries with a 60MP BSI sensor, USB-C charging, internal memory, and Live View.
• New Leica lenses like the Apo-Summicron 35mm and Summilux 50 V2 can focus down to 0.3–0.4m, far beyond what the rangefinder can handle (0.7m limit).
• Leica has been slowly embracing features once rejected by its community: IBIS in the SL series, touchscreens, content credentials, and even apps.

This new model could be a response to a growing base of hybrid shooters, creators, and photographers who want the Leica look and build, but with the speed and precision of autofocus and EVF workflows.

🔍 POSSIBLE SPECS AND FEATURES (UNCONFIRMED):
• Full-frame 60MP BSI CMOS sensor (same as M11)
• Built-in EVF (similar to Q3 or SL3 quality)
• No optical rangefinder
• USB-C, internal storage (like M11)
• Improved Live View performance
• Closer focusing support with new M glass
• Slimmed-down or reworked body without the RF mechanics
• Optional accessories via hot shoe
• Maybe even basic video functions?

WHY IT MATTERS:
For years, Leica purists have clung to the rangefinder experience. But the younger generation of Leica shooters, many coming from Sony, Fuji, Canon, Nikon, or Ricoh GR , are demanding something more modern. Could this be the bridge camera between the heritage M system and the digital future? Or is it Leica’s way of phasing out rangefinders in the long run?

In this video, I’ll break down:
• What the M11V could look like
• Who it’s for
• How it fits into the current Leica lineup (Q3, SL3, M11, M11P, M11D)
• Whether I’d buy it — and why you might not want to
