Mal 3:13-20a
"Your words against me have become very grievous," says the Lord. But you ask, "What have we spoken against you?" You have said, "It is futile to serve God!" For what profit have we had to obey his commands and walk mournfully in penance before the Lord of hosts? But now let us rather call the arrogant blessed, for the wicked, who tested God, have become exceedingly rich, and they have been delivered."
Then the people who feared God spoke among themselves, and the Lord paid attention and heard it. It was written in the Book of Remembrance before Him for the benefit of those who fear the Lord and fear His name. "They will be My possession, says the Lord of hosts, on the day when I act, and I will show mercy to them, as a father shows mercy to a son who obeys him. Then you will see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between those who serve God and those who do not serve Him. For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, and all the proud and all who work iniquity will be stubble; the day that is coming will burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. And for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness will rise, with healing in its wings.
Luke 11:5-13
Jesus said to his disciples:
"Suppose one of you has a friend, and he goes to him at midnight and says, 'Friend, lend me three loaves, for a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.' But he will answer from within, 'Do not trouble me! The door is already shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and give to you.' I tell you, though he will not rise and give him because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
And I say to you, Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, it will be opened." If a son asks any father among you for bread, will he give him a stone? Or for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he give him a scorpion? If you then, though evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?
