Objective:
This lab will teach you how to configure Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) on a Cisco router to automatically assign IP addresses to devices.
Explanation of DHCP :
A Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) assigns IP addresses and other network settings to devices on a network. Here’s a simple breakdown:

IP Address Assignment: DHCP allows devices (like PCs, smartphones, etc.) to automatically obtain an IP address when they join a network. This eliminates the need for manual IP configuration, making network management easier.

DHCP Server: In a network, there's typically a DHCP server responsible for managing IP address allocation. In our lab, the Cisco router acts as the DHCP server.

DHCP Pool: The DHCP server maintains a pool of available IP addresses along with other configuration parameters like subnet mask, default gateway, DNS server, etc.
The DHCP lease is sent by the device when it connects to the network. The DHCP server then assigns an IP address from its pool to that device for a specific duration called a lease. After the lease period expires, the device must renew its lease to continue using the same IP address.

Configuration Parameters: Besides IP addresses, DHCP can provide additional network configuration parameters like subnet mask, default gateway (router's IP), DNS server IP, etc. These parameters are crucial for proper network communication.

Simplicity and Efficiency: DHCP simplifies network administration by automating IP address assignment, reducing the chances of conflicts and errors that can occur with manual configuration. It also ensures efficient utilization of available IP addresses by dynamically allocating them as needed.
