Director's comments:
This video is a dynamic combination of multiple layers of hand drawn images on 16mm film, stop motion animation and family film footage from the 1980's. It was a long task but I much prefer combining traditional film techniques and new experimental methods to create something unique.
I took inspiration from the opening sounds of the waves at the beginning of the song, so I stared by looking through all the super8 film footage that my family had shot and I managed to find some of beaches they had taken in the 80's. It was very dull so I came up with the idea of improving it by adding a sun for brightness (which worked with the lyrics), I did this by pouring it out in paint and overlaying it on the old footage. I then linked this beach image with surreal and colourful images which incorporated the idea of how it was created using paint and that matched the relaxed and positive feeling I got from the song. I also was drawn to the lyrics 'You were right I didn't need those pills to feel fine' as refering to taking pills normally comes across as quite a negative image but as it was refering to not needing them I emphasied this by short stop motion sequences where I had animated pills in quite a quirky fun manor.

EYES CLOSED IN THE SUN
(Music and Lyrics by F.Giobbe. Arrangements by The Disappearing One)
You were right I didn't need those pills to feel fine
And you tolerate my fibs if only I were the pill for your mind
You were right I didn't need those pills to be nice
And you tolerate my fibs if only I chose the right path to find
How long hiding eyes closed in the sun
If you wanna have more, you better put your hands back to the ground
You'd better put them on the ground
