A: Each family of instruments has its own shape and color range:
flute: blue ellipse
oboe/bassoon: violet inverted ellipse (star)
clarinet: green octagon
brass: yellow/orange rectangle
timpani: gray octagon
triangle: hollow white triangle
snare drum: hollow white rhombus
bass drum: hollow white circle
harp: hollow circle (color determined by pitch, mistake!)
strings arco: orange/brown rhombus
strings pizzicato: hollow orange/brown rhombus
