Yu Sheng Recipe (Singapore)
Main ingredients for Yu Sheng Recipe
150g white radish (~1/2, grated)
150g carrot (~1, grated)
150 g red cabbage (~1/4 of a head, thinly sliced)
150 g pomelo (~1/4, segmented)
2 eggs (beaten with 1/2 tsp salt, fried, cut into thin strips)
100 g roasted peanuts (ground)
20 g roasted sesame seeds
8 to 10 wholemeal dumpling wrappers (cut in half, cut into 1cm strips, sprinkled with a dash of salt, brushed with oil, roasted at 180°C for 4 mins or till golden brown)
200g smoked salmon
Yu Sheng Recipe sauce
2 tbsp plum sauce
1 tbsp water
Seasonings
½ tsp salt for fried egg
½ tsp white pepper powder
½ tsp five spice powder
2 tbsp sesame oil
Yu Sheng Recipe Ingredients and Meanings
White radish: 风生水起 “Feng Sheng Shui Qi” - May our work and business progress by leaps and bounds.
Carrot: 鸿运当头 “Hong Yun Dang Tou” - Good luck will come our way.
Green radish: 青春常驻 “Qing Chun Chang Zhu” - May we have eternal youth.
Pomelo: 大吉大利 “Da Ji Da Li” - Cheers to good luck and prosperity.
Peanuts: 金银满屋 “Jin yin man wu” - May our business prosper
Sesame seed: 生意兴隆 “Sheng Yi Xing Long” - May the business prosper
Crackers: 遍地黄金 “Bian Di Huang Jin” - May our household be filled with gold.
Salmon: 年年有馀 “Nian Nian You Yu” - Wishing for abundance through the years.
White pepper powder, five spice powder: 招财进宝 “Zhao Cai Jin Bao”
Sesame oil: “财原广进 “Cai Yuan Guang Jin” - Lots of wealth.
