This project is a good example of how to Align to Key Object in Adobe Illustrator. Here is an outline of the steps used in this video:
1. From top menu: Select, Same… to select objects with similar characteristics and move to a layered hierarchy for a better workflow
2. Make sure the object you wish to align is BELOW the key object
3. Select “Align to Key Object” from the dropdown menu
4. Select the alignment type
5. Repeat steps 3-4 for each key object alignment

Best practice tip: I use the imported CAD file die lines (where each line segment is separate) to help position elements exactly on a package.

Tip 2: For best results, outline type before aligning.
