If Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic existed on the SNES, I'm pretty sure it would've eaten my entire childhood. I simply had to review this gem. It's randomized, it's difficult, it wants to put you to the ultimate test.
Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic review, Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic gameplay, Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic part 1, Lets Play Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic, Pixel Heroes Bite and Magic by Brandon Dayton.
Beating 10 dungeons in Pixel Heroes Bite and Magic is no easy task... I've officially made my way to 6 dungeons while waiting for this review to render. I might beat Pixel Heroes Byte and Magic with a Templar, Archer, Priest combo that I never thought would work out. The gameplay is as deep as you want to make it.

„Listen! The end is nigh!! Hear my words and prepare! An ancient cult has set foot in our lands! They call themselves The Sons of Dawn and pray to some dark elder god. They have started recruiting people for their cause all over the country. I fear that they want to try to awaken something which should be left sleeping. Something dangerous and sinister! Something that might destroy us all. Spend your last of days wisely...“

What can be said about Pixel Heroes that hasn't been said already? Not much, but I'll try to remain as original as possible.
If you like Rogue-like games, you will love Pixel Heroes--buy it, it's worth the $10. If you like relatively simple, classic RPGs with a retro element of nostalgia--buy it, it's worth the $10. But if you don't care for any of those things, you might want to reconsider.

Quests, inventory, dungeons, humor, monsters, magic and melee.
Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic has all that and more.
Pick your party. Accept a quest. Start your adventure in Pixton.
Smooth gameplay.

Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic is probably best described as a party-based dungeon crawler with roguelike elements. I myself prefer to call it the "Send-Innocent-People-To-Their-Dooms-Over-And-Over-Again"-Simulator, though. That's also more accurate!

First of all, a disclaimer: If you do not like perma-death/start over sort of games, this may not be for you. The lowest difficulty setting is called "Hard". If you are not prepared to accept starting over when (not if) your party wipes, maybe look for something else. You will die, and if you are the sort to be okay with that fact, you can also have a lot of fun!

Pixel Heroes is a classic JRPG with Rogue-like elements which has the ability to evoke the "One More Try" mind-set of gaming and leaving me wanting to play more, unlock more and complete more!
While it doesn't innervate the formula and I found the humour hit and miss at best, I found the simple to learn mechanics which hold hidden depth to master to be a real treat and worth your time if that's sounds like your kind of game!

Pixel Heroes: Byte & Magic what a game! This is a tip of the hat to everything we love about games. This is definitely one of the best rogue-likes out there. Do yourself a favor and check it out.
