यह कहानी एक मटरू नाम के गधे की है जो अपने मालिक से परेशान होकर सोचता है कि इंसान भी कभी गधों की तरह मेहनत करें। एक दिन जंगल में उसकी मुलाकात उल्टबासी बाबा से होती है, जो उसकी इच्छा पूरी कर देते हैं—गधे इंसान बन जाते हैं और इंसान गधे। लेकिन जल्द ही मटरू को एहसास होता है कि इंसान होना भी आसान नहीं है। जब गधे इंसान बनकर चालाकी दिखाने लगते हैं, तो मटरू को अपनी गलती का अहसास होता है। अंत में, वह बाबा से सब कुछ पहले जैसा करने की विनती करता है और सीखता है कि हर किसी की अपनी जगह पर रहना ही सही होता है।
