First, we need to understand the essence of the phenomenon. In my opinion, the naval dictionary provides a very accurate definition of anxiety. An alarm is a signal to summon personnel to their assigned stations. So, firstly, an alarm is an emotional signal. Secondly, this signal is needed to mobilize the body. For what purpose? To survive. Either as an individual, or as a species, or both.
But anxiety is more than a signal. It's not enough to mobilize personnel; they need to be armed. And the brain, via the brainstem, produces additional energy. Hormonal levels in the body (on command from the same brain) change. The person becomes ready to fight or flee. And it seems obvious how to get rid of anxiety. The person has received additional resources to improve their life. They just need to spend them as intended. Either replenish the deficit or get rid of the excess (the person). End the situation. The brain will realize it's no longer in danger and will stop generating anxiety along with the extra energy—let's call it, scientifically, "an itch." But it's not that simple.
