In this video, I hand-carve a wooden replica of Thranduil’s sword as seen in The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies — made from reclaimed hardwood flooring filled with old nails and scars from its past life.
What started as scrap wood turned into a polished, elegant Elven blade.
I honestly don’t know what exact species of wood this is, it could be beech, or maple, so I ask in the video:
What do YOU think this wood is?
This sword is hand-carved using slow, meditative woodworking methods and finished by hand from start to end.
