Doctoral candidates who want to find work in areas outside their expertise, face difficulties in the form of being treated as experts and beginners at the same time. Their advanced degrees seem to make them unattractive in some ways when the job being applied for is not in the area of expertise of the candidate.
This is disappointing, because doctoral candidates above all know the difficulty of producing reliable results. More so given the peer reviewed nature of their theses.
