Squire - Heavy Armour and Shield (full demo, 2023)
For my second feature this week, we remain in the ancient fantasy worlds of Finland for the debut demo release from Squire. A project depicting great medieval quests and stirring valorous deeds, recounting tales of high adventure and perilous danger.
Elegantly composed melodies, regal rhythms march forward with a subtly epic grandeur. There is a vivid bombast here, but it is played with a muted grey tone, like the imposing stone walls of castles; ah honourable power, wielded with potency.
Limited vanguard self-release cassette coming soon, with a second edition coming through Dale of Shadows in the Summer. For now, follow the artist on Bandcamp, pick up a digital copy and await the first, hand-dubbed edition!
