This video introduces the idea of finding the modulus or absolute value of a complex number. The absolute value, for both real or complex numbers, essentially asks the question of how far the number is from the origin.

For complex numbers, the absolute value can be found by plotting the point on the complex plane, drawing a line to the origin, creating a right triangle with vertical component equal to the imaginary part of the number and horizontal component equal to the real part of the number, and then using the Pythagorean theorem to find the hypotenuse of the triangle (the modulus of the number).
