The TTL of the PING Command Explained. Time to Live
When you use the ping command in the Windows Command Prompt, it responds with a number of bytes, response time, and a TTL or Time to Live. In basic networking configurations, the TTL isn't that important, but when you are routing across networks such as the inter-VLAN routing we are doing in this video, it can be a great network troubleshooting tool. The TTL response tells you how many routes your Ethernet packet has taken to get to it's destination.
