A quick video showing the difference in noise and vibration between modern Welded Rail and older jointed rail.
Filmed on the Caterham line in Whyteleafe Surrey UK. The line from Caterham to Purley on the left of the video is newly installed continuous welded and the Purley to Caterham line on the right is the existing jointed rail.
A dB and vibration meter were positioned 3m from each track. These meters are not calibrated and just show the difference in sound/vibration with reference to each other.
