The Center for Health & Pharmaceutical Law co-sponsored an important discussion focused on disparities in healthcare, in conjunction with the Garden State Bar Association and the New Jersey Medical Association. An impressive panel of healthcare experts addressed a range of topics related to how communities of color are impacted by heath inequities. In addition to health law experts from Seton Hall Law School, Professors John Jacobi and Jennifer Oliva, the panel also included Dr. Denise Rodgers, Vice-Chancellor at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and Dr. Aisha Langford, Asst. Professor of Population Health at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine. Questions for the panelists were moderated by Sheea Sybblis, Associate General Counsel for Nestle Health Science. The topics covered included the pandemic's wide-ranging impact on people of color, social determinants of health, racialization in pain management and access to treatment for substance use disorders, racial bias issues in telehealth, and vaccine clinical trials and issues of bioethics related to vulnerable populations.
