Commissioned in WA for a discerning buyer this Randell 45 still presents well for her years. Originally constructed using both Kevlar and fibreglass, 'Concorde' is stronger and lighter than most other recreational vessels of her size. Her profile lines are indicative and bear no mistake she is a Len Randell design - large rear deck, lots of individual strengthening mullions between the saloon windows, a narrow flybridge to improve aesthetics and stability, and smooth overall mouldings making her pleasant on the eye. Timeless is a word I would use.

A deep and full keel protects her running gear while providing stability at sea, less swing at anchor and less drift while bottom bouncing at your favourite fishing spots.

The cockpit is teak laid - and there's plenty of it! She has an enormous deck. Two large hatches provide access beneath, one to the lazarette which also houses the Onan genset and boasts storage space for lots of toys. Another hatch gives great access to a white painted engine room - in better condition than most boats a quarter her age. The engineering is exceptional with colour coded piping, operating ball valves, hot water system, battery chargers and mechanical commercial style bilge pump manifold system. I was pleasantly surprised and happy to crawl through it with my clean pants and white shirt to take some pics.

A chest style well insulated fridge sits to port of the saloon doors. I'm pretty sure it will hold stores for a month at the Abrolhos!

The saloon has plenty of head room, a long lounge and table to port fit for a family dinner, and a row of storage cabinets and entertainment centre to starboard. In the centre of the saloon is the seldom used lower helm station with all of the original instruments.

The galley is just a step down, mezzanine style so the cook is still connected to the fun. A gas stove and oven, upright fridge and freezer are complimented by more below bench storage and room for a sink, coffee machine and toaster on top.

Concorde is a two cabin, shared bathroom layout. The master stateroom is to port with a queen bed and the forward cabin featuring four adult size single tournament style bunk beds - all very neat and tidy. The bathroom has an electric toilet and separate shower stall.

The flybridge has a central helm station with a late model Raymarine Multifunction display, two bucket seats for the captain and co-pilot plus a semi circular lounge ahead of the helm facing aft, a design very typical of the era. A nicely moulded Fibreglass hard top overhead provides the perfect mount for electronics. The forward clears are brand new!

While Concorde could do with some soft furnishing upgrades, structurally and engineering wise I expect her to come up sound and ready for another decade of enjoyment for her next owners.
