Why Offset the Ferrule System On Kayak Paddle | Feathering your kayak paddle
In this video we learn about the benefits of offsetting the ferrule on a kayak paddle.
When you have blades swinging through the air, you have the primary blade in the water, the offsetting blade is being swung right into the wind resistance. A way to make a less fatigueing and easier kayak stroke, it to adjust the feather angle, so that when your primary blade is in the water, the offsetting blade is cutting through the air. A 45 degree offset is enough to get this to happen. This is a more technical stroke and you will need to practice with it, but you will notice it is much easier to paddle.
