An obese individual myself, I realized heavy women suffer a lot of shape discrimination. Overweight people feel humiliated simply for their presence. The Ted Club offered me the chance to deliver speeches that inspired obese people and encouraged them build up their confidence in the face of sizeism. In my speech, I pointed out that being fat is okay, because the causes of obesity are not only living habits but also genetic, metabolic, social, cultural, personal and psychological.
