How to Resolve Blockchain Data Disputes | Kleros
In this video clip, Supra's CEO Josh Tobkin tells the Kleros team how Supra's oracle service deals with data dispute resolution.
Josh explains how data disputes are mainly solved with redundancy. Right now, Supra has around 13 integrations with major exchanges and data aggregators like Coin Metrics, which will eventually be extended to 21 data sources. Calculations generally use 15 out of 20 data sources, so there is fault tolerance on the data source level, as well as on the node level.
To achieve security and redundancy, Supra has a unique tribe and clan structure, where groups of nodes independently form a committee known as a clan, which has around 13 nodes. One clan is dispatched to the data sources, and the clan itself requires a two-thirds majority to reach consensus.
If there are still issues, the protocol escalates the situation by sending more clans to the data source or engaging the entire tribe (the larger committee) by sending it to the data source so it's easier to determine who's right and who's wrong.
If that doesn't solve the issue, the protocol will freeze, and human arbitration will be used. Arbitration services may be used, as well as audit firms, to determine who's at fault because delivering bad information may result in a node operator having their tokens slashed.
