Special guest Phil Nelson - Running Db2 on "the cloud" is now very common. There are a number of ways to do this - everything from "roll your own" (IaaS) all the way through to using one of the IBM DBaaS offerings. This presentation looks at lessons learnt while building fully automated Db2 clusters on top of IaaS on Amazon's AWS cloud. After discussing why we might want to use IaaS rather than a fully managed service, we will look at what producing a Db2 build for AWS teaches us both about Db2 features and the AWS (and other) cloud platforms.
