In 26 AD, a roman politicial named Pontius Pilate was appointed as the fifth Roman governor of Judea, serving in this position until 36 AD.

His most infamous act was his role in the trial of Jesus of Nazareth as, according to the Bible, Pilate sentenced Jesus to be crucified despite finding no evidence of wrongdoing.
