VOCAL CHAINS

► Beat 1: Paid Plugins
Record at half your bpm, pitch up 12st, set bpm back to normal
Scheps Omni Channel - Air Vocals preset (De-esser, EQ, gate, compression)
Waves Tune Real-Time - 2ms speed, 2ms note transition
Manipulator - shift formant -7st
FabFilter Pro-Q - (EQ) low cut @ 80Hz, high shelf +20dB @2.8kHz
OTT - Split Freq: High @ 2.00 kHz, Low @ 350 Hz; 100% Wet, Time 1000%
FabFilter Pro-Q - (EQ) low cut again right under your lowest sung note (visual EQs work best for this)
Ableton 'Erosion' - Noise, 5.2 kHz, Width 0.2, Amount 5
'Erosion' - Sine, 5.2 kHz, Amount 14
Ableton 'Saturator' - (soft clip distortion) 20 dB drive, Analog Clip, Soft Clip ON, 5% Wet
Ableton 'Redux' - (bit reduction) Bit Red. ON, 8 bit, Downsample 2.00, SOFT (run this in parallel with a dry signal, I did -9dB on the redux channel, -3dB on the dry)
RC-20 - Automate on, Noise 50% (MUFF, follow 100, duck 70) Digital 30% (bits 100, CUT 700Hz & 7kHz, 100 smooth, 100 mix) EQ - resonant low cut @ 1.2kHz, soft high cut @ 3.9kHz
Compressor - Atk 6ms, Rel 160ms, inf:1 ratio (the signal wasn't that loud going into this so not a lot of gain reduction)
Delay sidechained to the dry signal, -12dB on the wet delay channel, Ping Pong, 2 (8th note but this was recorded @ 180bpm), feedback 69

► Beat 1: Free Plugins
Replace Scheps with: Stock De-esser, EQ (10k shelf boost w 100Hz cut), compressor (3:1, atk 10ms, rel 300ms), thresh should be set so only a few dB of gain reduction applies, use visual meters)
Replace Waves Tune & Manipulator with MAutoPitch*: 100 depth, 100 speed, keep formants 100, formant shift -7st
Replace FabFilter Pro-Q with your EQ
Replace RC-20 with iZotope Vinyl: -3dB M. noise, wear 50, -14 E. noise, dust 2.1 dB max dust, year 2000, rpm 33 (you'll need to volume automate this off, also EQ low cut 740Hz

*there's two ways of pitch correcting and I like using both. this is tough to do in MAutoPitch but I found a work around. Way 1 is routing midi in (make my voice stay on this SPECIFIC pitch). Way 2 is to hit every single pitch in the scale when you sing higher and higher (the classic AutoTune sound). For important held out notes, I route midi in and for the beginnings and ends of notes & passing notes, I like the hit-all-the-notes sound. To do both, set up a blank MIDI channel and have the output of it go to the audio channel with MAutoPitch on it. You will have to select it in a dropdown menu on the MIDI output section. From there, start writing in MIDI notes in your blank track to correct your tuning. This may be easier if you write the midi on a piano track and then bring it in. Only write the areas that you want to correct, like you missed the note and want it to shift one pitch higher. Once you have those corrected, write out the scale you're singing in on a separate midi clip. As if it were a really long chord, have it go for a few bars or so. For example if you were singing in F Major, a 2-bar chord of F G A Bb C D E F. Then, select a very small section of that MIDI clip and paste it over the sections of your original MIDI clip where you want the classic AutoTune glide sound.

► Beat 2: Paid Plugins
Same as beat 1 except:
-5st on formant shift
2% wet on saturator/distortion
Take out: erosion, redux, RC-20, final compressor

► Beat 2: Free Plugins
Read all above.

► Beat 3: Paid Plugins
Same as beat 1 except:
-6st on formant shift
Take out: erosion, saturator/distortion, redux, RC-20, final compressor
swap out OTT for Chorus & Phaser:
~ Chorus: stock chorus: Amount 1.4ms, Rate 0.4 Hz, 50% feedback, 40% wet, Delay 1 3ms, Delay 2 Mod 11ms
~ Phaser: SerumFX: bpm mode, 8 bar (song is 140bpm), Depth oscillates between 0% and 33% every 1.5 bars in a triangle waveform, 469Hz, Feedback 82%, 43% mix
add in Waves Doubler before the delay - Doubler 4 voices setting

► Beat 3: Free Plugins
Read Beat 1: Paid, Beat 1: Free, Beat 3: Paid
~ Swap out SerumFX Phaser with stock phaser, copy settings
~ Swap out Doubler by panning duplicates of this channel. Have a main vocal in the center and 4 duplicates

3) pan R, "" 12ms, -6c
4) pan R, "" 24ms, -12c, -5dB gain
