A Solar Powered Pan and Tilt Security Camera!? Soliom S600 Review!

A Geektoolkit Gadget Review
I've always been fascinated with the concept of a truly wireless solar security cameras, as well as 'turret' style ones which I could remotely control. This camera was offered to me in exchange for a review, and had both, so I jumped at the chance to play with one. A solar camera that could do security work would provide a way to do everything from watch my daughter in the yard to provide added security for not only my back yard but my side yards.

This video shares my findings of combining these two features (Security and solar), along with some things such as a PIR sensor that really make this camera stand out. This security camera eliminated 'false notifications' for motion detection thanks to the PIR sensor. I go over the features, the app experience, and then talk about who this solar security camera would be ideal for, and who may want to look elsewhere.

I love gadgets, but new gadgets can be a risk to buy. I'm hoping that by providing this info I can become a reliable resource for sharing my experience and tech expertise to help you make a purchasing decision before you do.

Below is an affiliate link to help the channel, and I'll try to update it as I find lower prices. Please keep an eye on the coupon checkbox, that usually cuts another 10-15% off the price:

Available on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3pYAKLc
I recommend picking up at least 3 more 18650 batteries like this (this comes with a charger and flashlight also): https://amzn.to/3twLYsF

For local storage, you should also look at getting a 64 gig Micro SD card, class 10, such as this one: https://amzn.to/3pW6Oj7

Also available from Soliom Official site, along with their other cameras. As stated in this video, if you're looking at this you may want to stick with them for the rest so that you can use one app for controlling all security camera related needs: https://soliom.net/

Protip: On the Soliom site, under Products, check the 'deal and coupon' link hidden there, it may get you a solid discount on this!

I may do a followup once I've had this for 3-6 months to let others know how it works. I'm planning on placing it about 80 miles away at a vacation house and operating it fully remote to manage security at that place. Overall I felt like it's a solid product for those that don't require Onvif support. My hope is that Soliom eventually embraces Onvif so that it can be used with PC software and home automation software in the future, as I think that'd be a killer combination.
