In an era when queerness was treated like a crime, four Latina lesbian’s were accused of the most unimaginable crime and locked up for something they didn’t do. They would spend the next two decades fighting for their freedom… and for each other and the world would come to know them as the San Antonio 4.
But was this ever really about the evidence… or was it about something else entirely? During the height of Satanic Panic paranoia, the horrific accusations came from two little girls, just weeks after one of the women, Elizabeth, rejected the advances of their father. What followed was a modern-day witch hunt, built on homophobia, hysteria, and a justice system ready to believe the worst about queer women.
To kick off Pride Month, we’re sharing their incredible story of resilience and justice. Because in a system that hunted them for who they were… they found the strength to speak louder.
