We know this is a common concern, and that's why we've added a unique battery saver feature to the Opera browser. It extends your laptop battery life by up to an hour, letting you browse longer without a charger.
According to our tests, the Opera browser runs up to 35% longer with the battery saver on, compared to other browsers like Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge. Depending on your laptop model, this might give you an extra hour of browsing away from a power outlet.
The benchmark test was conducted in June 2016 on a Lenovo Yoga 500, 14″, i3-5005U, 4GB, 500GB HDD, Win 10 using the balanced power profile. We ran Opera developer version 39.0.2248.0 with the native ad blocker and battery saver enabled, Microsoft Edge version 25.10586.0.0 and Google Chrome version 51.0.2704.103. We loaded nine popular websites, including YouTube in separate tabs and simulated scrolling activity in a loop.
