Welcome back to RBR! Today we explore what makes the new Audi Q6 e-tron potentially the best EV Audi has ever made — even more advanced in some ways than the Q4 and Q8 e-tron, and possibly even the flagship e-tron GT.
The Q6 sits right next to the Q5in the lineup — as an EV version of that car in many ways, following Audi's new two-prong approach of offering ICE and EV together.

🚨 DESIGN & WALKAROUND
At first glance, the Q6 might look like “just another Audi SUV.” But this is a brand-new generation — built with sharper styling, aggressive lighting, and a return to real Audi character. Audi doesn’t prescribe to the IX or EQ-style spaceship look — this is solid, sculpted RS style design.
Matrix LED headlights offer 8 different signature patterns, and the OLED rear lights (optional on non-SQ6 models) look stunning in person — with beautiful animations on opening and closing. New colour options and the Q6 Sportback version is also now available.
🚨 PLATFORM & TECH
Built on the PPE platform, the Q6 benefits from Audi and Porsche’s joint development. This gives:
800V architecture for 270kW DC charging (10 mins = 158 miles!)
Modular motor and battery setup
All-new battery pack: 12 modules instead of 36 for better cooling, space use, and crash safety
New lighter, more efficient rear motor with 2-speed gearbox
Up to 400 miles range (WLTP) depending on model
The standard setup is RWD with a rear-mounted PSM motor. AWD Quattro models add an ASM motor on the front, which disconnects when not needed to save energy. In real use, we will see if the Quattro is the sweet spot in the range.

There are 3 core Q6 models:
Q6 e-tron Sport (RWD) – £59k – 252PS – 83kWh – 288 miles
Q6 e-tron Performance (RWD) – £62k – 306PS – 100kWh – 348 miles
Q6 e-tron Quattro (AWD) – £68k – 388PS – 100kWh – 337 miles
Our Launch Edition test car builds on the Quattro with OLED lights, adaptive cruise, lane assist, and air suspension from the SQ6 — a great middle ground.
Top of the line is the SQ6 Edition 1 at £93k, with 517PS and 0–60 in 4.3s. It competes with the Macan Turbo EV but undercuts it on price, while offering more performance out of the box.
🚨 INTERIOR & TECH
Audi’s new-gen cabin launches here, with a curved OLED “skateboard” display that combines driver and infotainment screens. There’s a separate passenger screen, an AI voice assistant, and new Android-based software.

Specs are a bit more locked down than the Macan, but everything you need is here — and daily usability is excellent.
🚨 LIVING WITH IT
After three months, I’ve driven it in all conditions, charged it at home and on the road, and lived with the small quirks. Some odd software bugs and boot loading limitations aside — this is genuinely one of the best EVs I’ve tested. Smooth ride, long real-world range, premium feel and subtle presence — it’s the EV you’d actually want to daily. And compared to rivals, the Q6 makes a very strong case for itself, especially against its own cousin, the more expensive Macan EV. But, can it match it’s platform cousin in terms of fun?
