In Anatomy and Physiology, you'll learn about the four abdominal quadrants and nine abdominal regions. This will be useful if you plan to enter a healthcare profession such as nursing, in which you'll refer to these quadrants when performing assessments or documenting.
The four abdominal quadrants are as follows:
-Right Upper Quadrant (RUQ)
-Right Lower Quadrant (RLQ)
-Left Upper Quadrant (LUQ)
-Left Lower Quadrant (LLQ)
Each of these quadrants contain portions of the large and small intestines. The upper quadrant contains organs such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, spleen, and more.
